Re: Echo : The Talker [BG]
A very unique looking hero with very unique powers. She's one of my favourites!
Her howling attack is truely unique. Enemies don't use their regular defense but a standard 5. She will do an average of a little below 2 damage to each and every one of them. On top of that they must pay a AoW to activate. Must be very annoying!
Too bad our little nymph is that brittle. With 5 vitality she won't survive long if not protected. She's not much of a runner, either.
But Echo yelling and screaming for a few turns in the enemy camp with, say, Talos guarding her must hurt a lot!

She seems perfect when pitted with a guard to absorb damage for her, that really would force the opponent to waste arts of war cards. I like strategic units like this, also I think they really put her backstory to great use in the abilities.

Re: Echo : The Talker [BG]
Echo will most likely be a useful pick against enemies with multiple high defense units (or one really hard to kill unit like "Unkillies") since 4 dice against def 5 has better chances to wound than an average attack value against high defense. I'd probably use her as a cheap assassin against very resilient gods/titans. Atlas has defense 10? Pffft... let my 2RP hero take care of that!

She will need a guard though, and would still be vurnerable against area attacks.
It's also noteable that she has no talents and no art of war cards. With bad luck she might get taken out before the battle really begins, and then it's a waste of two points so her use certainly comes at a risk.

Well, it's all about that risk/reward management. It may not end up being the best tactic, but I'm definitely going to try it and find out for myself!
You'd definitely want to lock down the target(s) with Block or bait your opponent by making some of your tastier units their priority target for this to work more consistently. Even if she just manages to weaken a couple of the enemy's big baddies, that may be worth the 2RP in my book.

Too bad she only has 1 movement. I would get a big & tough Guarding monster somewhere in the middle of the enemy lines - and then get Echo in as a surprise. Too bad Artemis is the only unit that can give other (non-Troop) units a speed boosts, afaik.
Or bring in Tityos as 1st activation - and run in Echo as second? Too bad Tityos doesn't have Guard, though ..
Too bad she can't climb on the Griffon's back ..
Defensively she will do fine, especially by her AoW penalty for being near her. I wonder if she will benefit from Euryton/Eurytus' +1 ranged bonus?
edit: she doesn't; that bonus is only for single target (non-area) attacks.
One thing I'm certain of: she will have her uses, it's more a matter of finding combinations to get the most out of her.
I also tested 4 dice vs 5 .. it's not that impressive, you get a little over 1 damage on average. Her AoW penalty for this and adjacent areas is more impressive than her damage output. What that's concerned she's a bit like Orpheus, who makes activating units even harder.
