Re: Orion : Giant Hunter [BG]
That block + tracking ability gives him some great battlefield controll, and he is also pretty tough for a three point unit.
I mean, he can not only throw a unit out of the way to clear a path, but move after them for free to keep them there. Great way to isolate a god or titan and set them up for an attack of another of your units.

Re: Orion : Giant Hunter [BG]
"Ranger Giant" would be an appropriate denomination for Orion.
It's noteworthy that he has both Mighty Trow (needs blanks) as his Hunter (re-roll blanks) power. Although you need 2 blanks to throw a monster - and with 7 dice the chance of 2 blanks isn't all that big. So he probably will mainly throw heroes and Troops and re-roll the blanks when fighting monsters! Puzzle solved!
7/8 and 1 AoW card isn't all that bad for a 3RP unit. His Climb, 2 movement and 1 range may come in handy as well. Although I don't see any special role for him he seems pretty solid, although you'd like your opponent to field a monster or 2 to utilize his best skill.

Yes that must be the main purpose of his Tracking skill. He may actually throw a target towards his own units and jump after it and keep it there with his Block ability.Rhalius wrote:he can not only throw a unit out of the way to clear a path, but move after them for free to keep them there. Re: Orion : Giant Hunter [BG]
Orion could (in theory) move 5 areas in one activation. That is, until Tracking gets reworded.
- Move 2 onto cliff
- Attack unit at range 2 (+1 range from cliff)
- Mighty Throw the unit away from Orion
- Thrown unit is now 3 areas away
- Tracking moves Orion into that area
And that's how you get a fairly strong monster into your enemy's deployment zone on turn 2!

Wouldn't it be: attack unit with range 3, throw unit one field further, unit is now 4 fields away? Qhich leads to a total movement of 6?MaxC wrote:Orion could (in theory) move 5 areas in one activation. That is, until Tracking gets reworded.

I think mighty throw only works in melee though?

His base range is 1, the cliff brings him up to 2.

Mighty Throw wrote:Whenever this unit attacks, you may discard up to 2 blank results from your first roll to throw the defending unit. Throwing Troops and Heroes only requires you to discard 1 blank result, while throwing Monsters and Gods requires 2.
After attacking, if enough blank faces have been discarded to throw the defending unit, move it to an area adjacent to its starting area. Thrown units carrying an Omphalos drop it in their starting area.
Nope!

Thats very odd that you can throw someone with a ranged attack, considering you can decide on the direction. I can see how throwing a heavy spear at someone might push them back from the impact, but pulling them towards you sounds more like something a certain mortal kombat character would do.

It is indeed quite strange, but in this case it makes for interesting bullsh#t tactics, which I absolitely love.

I wouldn't count on it that the final rulebook won't have "melee" in the MT description though ..MaxC wrote:It is indeed quite strange, but in this case it makes for interesting bullsh#t tactics, which I absolitely love.

I'm not counting on it, but Leo said in the BoW demo game that it doesn't necessarily someone litterally throwing someone else and he didn't seem to mind that it works on ranged aoes and such. I'm almost hoping they change it to be honest, but I'd be fine if it stays the same. I'm sure this conversation has come up many times at Mythic HQ.

That's my calculation also !
Why do you think it will be reworded ?

I have a feeling the intended meaning was for him to move up to his movement stat towards the thrown unit, but then again who knows.
