Just throwing this out there, seeing how putting everything on the table can be overwhelming and it might be fun to come up with variations for the draft anyways.

So here's some ideas:

-human vs beast.
One team may only consist of humans. Gods that look human count as their god of course, but they can't choose anything that does not look fully human.
And the beast team may not contain any humans.

-Men vs women.
Gendered teams, and here only units of which the gender is obvious count. Which leaves the more animalistic creatures out of it.

-Mortals looking to become a god.
Instead of using a god or titan as the leader, you pick a 5 point unit instead, and you get 10 points to spend on your army. But you can't recruit other 5 point units since they are filling the role of gods.
You can only recruit units that cost up to 4 points. It's now the 5 point unit thats looking to absorb omphalos and obtain godhood instead.
This could even be lowered further, to 4 point or 3 point units, with only the units lower in cost than them being available for recruitment. It might make for a completely different game.

-Jason vs Odysseus.
Both these heroes seemed to count a good number of heroes as their friends and could count on the favor of various gods.
So for this draft you first need to decide who gets Jason and who gets Odysseus. Then you pick a god for your hero, that helped them in their adventures. You can't pick ones that did not help them or where only hostile to them.
After that, the draft starts. What you can draft however, is thematically limited.
You can draft the known allies of your hero, and the known enemies of the other their hero.
Enemies does not extend to those of the other hero their allies unless the main hero was involved in the events.
Jason can draft Hector for example since he was Odysseus his enemy as well, but not Aegystus, who counts as Agamemnon's enemy. Of course you can draft hostile creatures as well.
Regarding troops, naturally the myrmidons and argonauts can only serve one side. But generic troops like hoplites and Toxotai can be drafted by either.
Anything that's been both a friend and enemy to either Jason or Odysseus can be drafted by either.

Now for how the actual skirmish game goes, the same as otherwise with victory by either killing the enemy god or your god gathering four omphalos. With the difference that you can recall Jason or Odysseus when killed, as if they where a troop.

Thats just some ideas though, I'd love to hear more of you of course.

Those are awesome ideas! Especially the Monster vs Men or 'Becoming a god' one look hell of a fun to play!

I'll probably also try to divide the drafting pool into different 'armies' or 'alliances'. That means that e.g. Persephone or Hades would be gods for a 'underworld fraction' which would have troops to choose from like the Gorgon, Pandora, Cerberus etc...

Obviously you'd have to spend some time to consider which fractions would have which units and which gods!
I think If you can devide the drafting pool equally into 5 or 6 fractions, that could work out pretty well!

I think the scenarios will provide some cool variety too. Your Jason vs. Odysseus idea sounds somewhat similar to what the Hector vs. Achilles campaign will be. I'd love to see someone make a custom campaign like that. This game's community is already pretty great, and I hope we get to see a lot of custom scenarios/campaigns/game modes in the future once the game has been released for a while. Community content is possibly the best way to keep a game alive and well.

I'm also interested in what uses people might come up with for the recruitment cards. The obvious way is to draw a certain number of gods, monsters, heroes and troops and draft from that. I think it could be cool to do a blind draft, where each player draws a random god, then the regular units are sorted by RP cost and you draw, say, 1 4RP unit, 2 3RP and 2 1RP for a total of 12 RP and play with that random army.
