The Amazons [BG]

No area attack like the Toxotai, but they can climb and have initiative, same range too.

More vurnerable with just four of them however but still, they are to be used in the background to provide some support.

That they are depicted with spears is a bit deceiving. Considering they are one of only two range 2 Troops in the game and very weak in melee, I see them as a a full-fledged ranged unit (the other being the KSE Toxoitai).

They don't have an area attack or Guard but can climb up hills to increase their range and attack with +1. They probably shine most that way.
I guess bolster and the +1 bonus for standing on an elevation don't stack - so having units with bolster won't help them when standing on a boulder anyway.

But accompanied by a good Troops buffing unit that gets a free Troops activation and card and give +1+/1 buff (like Hector, Leonidas, Diomedes, Cecrops, Agamemnon, Penthesiliea, Orpheus, Eurytus, Gaia, Athena, Pan) they can be quite good, I think. A free 2 range, 5 dice attack can be quite useful.
In the future the Amazones will be used a lot by non-KS backers as they will be the only non-KSE ranged 2 Troops unit.
