Re: Medea : The Potion Maker [BG]
She will basically be taken for her Heal ability. -1 damage per attack per unit .. not bad!
Especially effective vs area attacks. +1 AoW card isn't bad either.
For the rest she isn't that impressive. Stun is nice, but the 1 AoW card price is rather high; given the choice you would rather activate another unit or use another unit's more potent special power.
Even though she's one of the only 2 healing units in the game (the other being Andromeda), it remains to be seen if she will be used that much.

I could actually see myself using Medea quite a bit. She's cheap, so you can recruit her late draft if you see the opponent isn't heavy on AoW. The stun itself should be pretty nice to make an enemy unit an easier target for your heavy hitters, or less of a threat to your weaker pieces.

After reconsidering, I must say you are right. -1 damage to allies in her area and adjacent areas is quite an impressive boost! That comes down to quite a number of decreased attack dice. Also, area and adjacent areas is a nice chunk of the board if you position her well.MaxC wrote:I could actually see myself using Medea quite a bit. I'd say though that she's especially effecive when facing AoE attacks. She doesn't have to pay an AoW for it and she can do it for every attack, so as many times as there are attacks made in her neighbourhood.

Exactly. Her power is much better suited against a lot of weaker attacks than a couple of strong attacks.
Also I wouldn't want to fight Achilles in Medea's zone. Downright unkillable!

Would work pretty well when those around her are bolstered or benefitting from phalanx. Means the enemy has to use less dice against a stronger defence.

It's not even just less dice... They have to inflict at least 1 wound before they can even scratch anything. If it's not a particularly good roll, they might have to sacrifice some dice to get re-rolls and then boost those results, so they could lose more than just a few if the target's defense is high.
